You will be asked to remove all jewelry and clothing to your level of comfort. Your therapist will leave the room to allow for privacy. After you undress, lay face down on the table under the top sheet. Your therapist will ensure you are properly draped during your session. As each part of your body is massaged, it will be uncovered only until the therapist is finished. Genitals and women's breasts are not massaged and will remain covered at all times.
Massage therapists are required to cover/drape you with a sheet so that they expose only the area which they are working on. You may need to undress for therapy. However, you do not need to expose yourself in any way that you are uncomfortable.
Please tell your therapist about any injuries, problems or surgeries in the recent past, as well as any pertinent medical problems. Fill out the Client Profile, Close your eyes, take a deep BREATH and relax! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after the massage. Please keep your therapist informed of your comfort level and whether you desire lighter or firmer pressure during your session.
It is important to let your massage therapist know (this will be asked on the health history form you will be asked to fill out on your first visit). Massage therapy is not recommended for people who suffer from hemophilia.
If you wish to have silence, you should say so at the beginning of the treatment. The therapist may, however, require verbal information pertinent to health findings during the treatment.
