Classic full-body therapeutic Swedish-style massage – highly recommended for the massage novice. Customized to your preference of light, medium or firm pressure and focus on your areas of concern. Your therapist will discuss with you any areas to focus on and your desired level of pressure.
Deep Tissue massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. Recommended for muscle fatigue or spasm resulting from injury, athletic overuse or stubborn, chronic conditions. The purpose is to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slower strokes and deeper hand or finger pressure on the contracted or restricted areas of muscle, tendon and fascia. The term “Deep Tissue” is a general name for a variety of techniques that are often blended together during your massage. Deep Tissue techniques include massage modalities such as Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release, Sports Massage, trigger point massage and other massage techniques. These techniques also often include stretching, and often your therapist will suggest deep breathing to help your muscles release and to keep any discomfort to a minimum. The therapist will work to your tolerance to ensure the deep, therapeutic work you are looking for. Not recommended for first-time massage.
The ancient healing art of Stone Massage has been part of the eastern world of alternative therapy for thousands of years. Stones are placed on various muscle groups to relax your tight muscles. Then a slow, deeply warming massage is performed with the heated stones. This massage, in combination with the energy balancing and placement of the hot stones, stimulates the circulatory system ridding the body of tension and stress. Heat creates deeper relaxation of the muscles, stimulates the nervous system and assists with injury. Close your eyes, relax and enjoy warm stones that are gently placed and massaged on your body and let the stress melt away!

What is Reiki? Reiki (prana, chi, ki, or universal life-force energy) exists everywhere. We all manipulate this energy constantly. Sometimes we have a lot of it and we feel great. Other times we run low, and things don’t seem to be going so well. When our energy is low, we are more likely to get sick or feel stress. By studying the subtler flow of energy, and our energy centers (chakras), reiki practitioners help clients let go of old and stale energy patterns that have begun to cause physical and energetic health problems. They help the client develop positive new habits by intuitively sensing what energy patterns no longer serve them, and by bringing awareness to them. Reiki sessions involve light touch by a caring practitioner that promotes relaxation and deep breathing. The healer acts as a conduit for spiritually guided energy to flow, clearing blockages and restoring balance. Many insights may arise during your session, and the therapist may relate what they felt after your session. (Reiki is not a replacement for professionally guided medical support, but works best alongside it.)
Lymphatic massage (also known as manual lymphatic drainage) aids in the flow of lymph, a fluid in the body responsible for boosting the immune system and promoting general health. Lymphatic massage can perform a number of services on your body, such as reduction in swelling, boosting your immune system and producing white blood cells.
Myo means muscle and fascia is the elastic connective tissue wrapped around muscles and other parts of the body. During myofascial release restrictions (stuck areas) are located and gentle sliding pressure is applied in the direction of the restriction to stretch the tissues. The stretching of tissues and the heat imparted by the practitioner's hands help produce a softer consistency of fascial tissues.
Ashiatsu is an art, where the feet glide effortlessly over the contours of the client’s body. The therapist supports themselves with wooden bars suspended from the ceiling while applying different foot strokes along the body. Using the pressure of the therapist’s feet on strategic points along the back and spine, a push-pull-pumping affect is created on the soft tissue that surrounds the muscles and inter-vertebral disc space. This deep compression on the soft tissue around the joints allows the nucleus pulposus (inside the disc) to assume its central position within the annular fibers and relieve irritations on the spinal nerve caused by inflammation and swelling is performed with smooth, flowing, gliding deep foot pressure. Mobilization above and below the joints naturally takes place due to the deep compression to surrounding muscle.
Choose from HAND or FOOT reflexology -- All the organs in the body are reflected in our hands and feet. Working on specific areas on the hands or feet stimulates the corresponding organ within the body. Reflexologists work from maps of predefined pressure points that are located on the hands and feet. These pressure points connect directly through the nervous system and affect the bodily organs and glands. The reflexologist manipulates the pressure points according to specific techniques of reflexology therapy. By means of this touching therapy, any part of the body that is the source of pain, illness, or potential debility can be strengthened through the application of pressure at the respective foot or hand location. Reflexology applied properly can alleviate allergy symptoms, as well as stress, back pain, and chronic fatigue.
Trigger points can be caused by muscles that become dysfunctional and stay in a constant contraction without a signal from the nervous system, resulting in muscle weakness and pain referral. Over 73% of the time, pain referral is not located where it originates. Through trigger point analysis and palpation, the pain source is located and treated by static compression. Trigger points aren’t exclusively located in muscles: they are also found in skin and ligaments. Below are few common examples of problems addressed by deep tissue massage and who would benefit. PROBLEMS ADDRESSED: Cervical pain, Back Pain; sciatica, Fibromyalgia, Scoliosis and kyphosis, Neurological interference, Restriction of motion, Chronic pain, Headaches, Postural distortions.
The therapist will perform a variety of fully body stretches. We will use resistance to help the muscle stretch further. This is not just great for workout enthusiasts, but for everyone. You will leave feeling taller, more limber and relaxed. And for those preparing for challenge, it is a great way to prepare those muscles the day before.
